Thanksgiving is a time when
we consciously sit back and reflect upon the good
things in our lives and remember why we should be
grateful for what we have. But if you’re religious,
you are probably taking stock in your life and praising
God on a regular basis—instead of waiting for the
holiday season to show your gratitude. This collection

Have children list their favorite Thanksgiving foods.
Once the list is made, provide information on current
prices for the foods, including turkey, stuffing,
cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Many times this
information can be gleaned from newspaper circulars.
Give students "play" money with a set
budget and have them try to purchase Thanksgiving
dinner for 10 or even 12 people without going over
their budgets.
Have kids try to calculate how many pounds of turkey
they will need per person for Thanksgiving dinner.
They could also try to determine how long the turkey
will need to be cooked, based on its size.
