Taylor Lautner

Taylor Daniel Lautner (born February 11, 1992) is an American actor and martial artist. His roles include the family films The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and as Jacob Black in the Twilight film series.

Lautner was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Deborah, who works for a software development company, and Daniel Lautner, a commercial airline pilot. He was raised in Hudsonville, Michigan, and attended Jamestown Elementary School until the age of eleven. Lautner is of mostly Dutch, French, and German descent, and claims some Native American (specifically Ottawa and Potawatomi) ancestry through his mother. He has a younger sister, Makena.

Lautner is an accomplished martial artist, having studied karate from the age of six to thirteen. When he was eleven, he was ranked number one in the world for NASKA's Black Belt Open Forms, Musical Weapons, Traditional Weapons and Traditional Forms and, at the age of twelve, he won the Junior World Championships.

Lautner began acting in 2001, appearing in the made-for-television film Shadow Fury. He subsequently had roles on the series Summerland, The Bernie Mac Show, and My Wife and Kids. He also appeared in a number of other television shows and movies, including The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour. He appeared as himself in America's Most Talented Kids, putting on an exhibition of his Martial Arts skills. In addition to television, Lautner has been very successful in voice-over work. Lautner has booked a recurring role as Youngblood on the cartoon Danny Phantom, and has recorded episodes of What's New, Scooby-Doo? and He's a Bully, Charlie Brown. Taylor has also been booked as a series regular on a pilot presentation called Which Way Is Up?, in addition to voicing the character of Silas in the animated series Silas and Brittany.

His big break came in 2005 when, at the age of thirteen, Lautner won the role of Shark Boy in the Robert Rodriguez film, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, a film that showcased his martial arts skills. He spent three months on location in Austin, Texas filming. Within months, he successfully auditioned to play Elliot, the son of the Bakers' rivals, in Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

In October 2008, Lautner played Christian Slater's son in the television series My Own Worst Enemy, until the show was canceled after only 9 episodes. Lautner then played Native American character Jacob Black in Twilight, the movie adaptation of the novel by Stephenie Meyer. Due to major physical changes that occur in the character of Jacob Black throughout the series, the director of Twilight's sequel, New Moon, considered replacing Lautner with a different actor in the second film. In an attempt to keep the role, Lautner weight-trained extensively and gained approximately 30 pounds. Lautner reprised his role as Jacob in New Moon. Lautner has also been cast in the film Valentine's Day as Tyler Harrinton.

How Taylor Lautner Got His Body From Workout?

Taylor Lautner had no choice, either he had to build muscles or had to decide quitting next Twilight movie. Exact 1 year in time, fully grown muscles and at stake was his next project, the clock was ticking.

His fitness trainer is Jordan Yuan who runs Virtual Fit Club (VFC). He encourages the people with no muscles to try his fitness regimen because it’s worth it. He says that it is much difficult for an already muscular person to grow more muscles compared to the person who has no muscles on his body and is just starting to develop them.

Taylor Lautner’s workout guru says that genetics do play a role but we seldom try to achieve even the limit that genetics pose. The regimen is easy and consists of maintaining the workout schedule. The second step is not eating junk food just to fill up the stomach.

The trick according the fitness guru is to make body comfortable with heavier weights. He stresses lifting 30~40% heavier weights than the weight one can normally lift. He advises if one’s body can bear 100 pounds one should give 140 pounds a try and gradually increase the number of times the weight is lifted.

Taylor Lautner’s Workout consisted of exactly the routine described above that is making the body to bear much more than it can usually does and eating the right food full of nutrients.

A Little Bit About Taylor Lautner's Background

Lautner was born in 1992, on February 12th. At the time of the filming of Twilight : New Moon, Lautner was 17 years old. Until he was thirteen years old, Lautner focused much of his time on martial arts. By the time he was twelve, he had already won a black belt at the Junior World Karate Championships. In 2001, Lautner started acting. In 2008, he was in Twilight as Jacob Black, a Native American.

Lautner was not the director's initial choice for the role of New Moon's Jacob Black.

Director Catherine Hardwicke even thought about finding someone else to fill in for Lautner's role. The aim was to find a person who was more realistic and muscular to play Black. Because the character of Jacob Black transforms into a wolf, the director was looking for an actor who had more of an imposing appearance than Lautner.

If he didn't bulk up quickly, Lautner was going to be re-cast out of New Moon.

Fortunately, Taylor's background in martial arts was helpful when he needed to improve his physical conditioning. If Lautner was a kid without a history in athletics, it's unlikely that he'd have been capable of developing the muscle that he did in such a brief span of time.

Taylor Lautner's Six Pack Abs...

Lautner trained for nine months before New Moon began to film, though his abs can be credited to much more than just this exercise. Because he maintained an athletic lifestyle when he was younger, his natural muscle maturity and density was already that of an average twenty year old. A tight core is where many martial artists derive their power from. As time passes, this core becomes even tighter, more solid, and defines the existing muscles. To make your abs more apparent, one needs to lower the percentage of their body fat through dieting, though Lautner's abs can be credited to his experience in the martial arts.

For Lautner, gaining muscle was relatively simple.

Because of his youth, Lautner could quickly gain twenty pounds. One aspect of working out that the fitness magazines don't make you aware of is that gaining mass is easy when you begin your regimen. Lautner was easily able to gain the muscle mass that his body was ready to accommodate. He's not a very large person at all, and this is positive. Just like most younger males, Lautner could move towards his body's maximum efficiency very quickly. Because his life consists of little more than acting, he could dedicate every moment of nine months towards this. Usually, this process will take a year or two.

Lautner was questioned about how he attained his New Moon body.

Lautner doesn't give away many details regarding his workout during interviews. He makes broad statements like, "I ate a lot of food and worked out". It doesn't take much more than this for a guy Lautner's age to put on up to 25 pounds. After this, the secret is how to drop the fat and just have lean muscle. Taylor Lautner has his high metabolism rate working for him as he's still young. Anyone this age will have to alter their weight loss and muscle strategies as they grow older.
